Hooi Shing Chuan
Professor
Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine (YLLSoM), National University of Singapore (NUS), Singapore
Professor Hooi Shing Chuan graduated with MBBS degrees from the National University of Singapore in 1983 and obtained his PhD from Harvard University in 1992. He joined the Department of Physiology, National University of Singapore in 1985 and was Head of Department from 2000-2008. He was the Vice Dean (Education) of Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine from 2010-2017. He has been teaching Physiology to Medical and Allied Health students over the past 25 years and has received many teaching awards at Faculty and University levels, including the NUS Outstanding Educator Award in 2012, the 2013 NUHS-Mochtar Riady Pinnacle Excellence Award and more recently, the 2023 Mentoring Innovation and Leadership in Educational Scholarship (MILES) Award.

Solomon Sathishkumar
Senior Professor of Physiology
Christian Medical College, Vellore, India
Professor Solomon Sathishkumar is a current Senior Professor of Physiology at Christian Medical College (CMC), Vellore, India. He possesses vast experience in teaching Human Physiology to medical, nursing and allied health sciences students. As the former Vice Principal (Vice-Dean) for Undergraduate Medical Education, he was involved in the extensive curriculum renewal that took place to mark 100 years of Medical Education at Christian Medical College. The renewal ensured that the curriculum was contextual and relevant.

His primary research interests focuses on the treatment of articular cartilage defects with cell-based therapy and the clinical application of stem cells from adipose tissue. Beyond physiology, Dr Solomon is also interested in early clinical exposure, and Integrated Teaching & Learning methods for medical students.
